About the experience

This experience is only available on a guided tour with us.

After arriving in a quaint mountain valley, we’ll first visit the tea fields with our local friendly tea farmer to talk about Japanese tea plant varieties and ways of farming. Then we'll travel to the tea factory where the farmer will give us a tour of the machinery used to make tea. Finally we'll have a tasting session where he'll explain the types of tea and varieties of steeping methods to get the perfect flavour.

Price

¥15,000 - Private group. Experience and guide cost for duration of experience (~2 hours). 4 guests maximum. Only run as part of a Hihumi 1.2.3. custom guided tour.

Tour timing and guest numbers

Season/Days: All year round (excluding the busy tea-making season: early to mid-May). In general held only on weekdays (Saturdays and Sundays may be possible)
Times: Roughly 2 hours. Start time flexible.
Max/min guests: Minimum: 1 guest, Maximum 4 guests (with rentacar), maximum 2 guests if needing transport.

Access

Meeting point (for guests using public transport): Hon-Nagashino Station (JR Iida line), Aichi Prefecture, Shinshiro City.
Example route: <2.5 hours. Nagoya → Toyohashi (Tokaido Shinkansen) → Hon-Nagashino (JR Iida Line, spelled i-i-d-a).

Requirements/information

Comfortable shoes and a hat are recommended for walking around the tea fields. The tour area and content may change in the event of rain. Please let us know in advance if you have any allergies.
